Devkund is one of the breathtaking wonder of Nature. It is hilarious and it is near the Bhira village which is 65 kms from pune and from mumbai 123 kms. Bhira village is in Raigad district. It is surrounded by the dense forest and is known as the perfect adventure spot for the nature lovers.
How to reach devkund?
1. From Pune:- Start your journey from Mulshi road and you will head towards Tamhini ghat road of the western ghats of India. It is the most beautiful and offers a complete escape from rush and daily routine.
2. From Mumbai:- If you will start your journey from mumbai i.e from CST it will take 170 kms to reach Bhira village. If your journey starts from khopoli then it will take around 123 kms. Before reaching bhira you have to pass through Pali village and take another bus or state transport to visit Bhira.
View From Tamhini Ghat
There is no logic hidden behind the architecture of the clouds and the beauty of the nature that welcomes you with open hearts.
Trek towards Devkund
When you reach bhira village you have to park your cars or two wheelers and have to register your names and number of people with you. There you have to take a guide because the total distance reaching at the point is 8 kms from the starting point till end. There are multiple ways to go inside the trail. You will get confused so better hire a guide and per person you have to pay 100 rs.
Breakfast Time
Before starting your trek there are many people who offers home made food which is mouth-watering. Also don’t forget to carry lot of water with you. You will find 2-3 stalls inside the trail and they provide you lemonade and waffers. The stalls run only on weekends.
After walking for 3 kms inside the forest you can find a peace by sitting near a peaceful lake. This lake is joined to Bhira dam which is then released to Kundalika rivers. It is very dangerous during monsoon from july end to sept due to heavy rains, so the area is closed for tourists.
After reaching to a certain point there is a wooden bridge to cross the stream when water is raging. The increased waterflow was making it so hard for us to cross the various streams. The trek is like never ending, as we go more and more inside the dense forest. But after sometime it feels so breathtaking by hearing the noise of waterfall.
It is so exciting for making it to Devkund waterfall. It feels relax and worth walking for such a long after seeing that beautiful waterfall. This waterfall is mostly enjoyed at its best during monsoon. It is one of the best trek that is done by me and my group.
There is a net around in the river. It can be risky moving to the other side of net as it is deep down due to rainy season. We had a good pedicure within the river as all the tiny fishes gather around your legs.
Tips
Make sure you visit this waterfall in the early monsoon during June end to August. Due to heavy rainfall this waterfall entry point is closed off because the water rises into it’s peak level.
If you love this waterfall, Katalhar waterfall is more adventurous.
