Yercaud is the small hill station in Salem city of southern part of Tamilnadu which have the exotic locations and evergreen destinations to explore. It is called as “Lake Forest”, and situated in the Shevaroy hills of Tamil Nadu.
It is almost 230 kms from Bangalore.
How to reach Yercaud ?
By Road from Bangalore :- It will take 4 hrs to reach by car. It is 230 kms away from Bangalore.
By Train:- Yercaud do not have its own railway junction, so its nearest railway route is Salem Junction where you can take train from Chennai which is 35 kms.
The Journey Begins
So we begin from Bangalore, Kasavanhalli Sarjapur Road. We started our journey at 8.00 Am in the morning and it took 4 hours to reach the destination. And we took all the pit stop for breakfast and photography. The whole journey was amazing with my family by singing songs, hearing songs and discussing some other topics then daily routine.
While reaching our destination there are some beautiful one way routes and some extreme hair pin bends which were awesome. You should take the precautions while driving because there are total 30 hair pin bends and you should sit properly so that car would not disbalance.
There are 2 routes that you can prefer while visiting Yercaud:-
- Bangalore -> Hosur -> Krishnagiri -> Salem -> Yercaud
- Bangalore -> Hosur -> Krishnagiri -> Nallampalli ->Thoppur -> Yercaud
We preferred 2nd route and we love the whole scenic beauty and views of the valleys. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Stay Option in Yercaud
We had a stay in Hotel Grand Palace . Just make sure to take the balcony side room as in the front side you can really enjoy watching beautiful view. There are also some fun activities for small kids like trampoline and swings.
There is also infinity pool where you can enjoy with your family. Also there is a cafe near by pool where you can have fun. But, you cannot drag that inside the pool.

There is also a Spa activity room where you can enjoy a lot with different packages they give us.
Different things to Explore Near Hotel
- Yercaud Lake
Your weekend trip is incomplete if you have not visited Lake. It is also called as Emrald Lake. Per person cost is 300 Rs for adult and for children below 5 years is free of cost. These lake is surrounded by well groomed trees and garden.
You can also do Boating by yourself i.e either a row-boat or Pedal boat by yourself. The charges are different for every ferry ride.
2 . Kiliyur Falls
It is located ata distance of 4 Km from our Hotel. It is one of the most beautiful and live waterfall that I have ever seen. This was the best part of our journey and because of that I have forgot to take the photos of it and also it was slippery and narrow steep starirs to reach the final destination.
3. Lady’s Seat
From these point you can have a full view in yercaud where you can see valleys, ghats that you were taking and all the panoramic views.
4. Gent’s Seat
There are different areas that you can explore like children seat, Rose garden near by, so that all the kids can enjoy a lot.
5 . Shervaroyan Temple
This temple is located about 7-8 kms away from the hotel. It is one of the world’s biggest Sri Chakra Maha Meru Temple. It is near Kanavaipudur road. You should visit during the sunset as it looks attractive to watch as the sun is setting.
Look at the beautiful view while sun is going down. It is the highest point of yercaud with its scenic beauty and awesome climate.
In this way our journey ended for exploring new things and we headed back to our Hotel. But, this is not enough. Just scroll down you can see the best part of the hotel that we experienced after returning back to our room.
The Bonfire
There were music all around. Everyone is cherished with there family members or the groups. One of them started playing Guitar and the whole magic was created within the environment. We started dancing and singing and enjoyed a lot. It was value for money to spend such a nice time with your loved ones.
So, there was new morning and we started our journey back to Bangalore by keeping all the fun-loving memories with us.
